That You May Know: The Purpose of 1 John

One of the helpful things John does in his writings is to tell us why he is writing this book! He does it in John 20:31 and he does it again in 1John 5:13 (and 1:3-4).

Today we begin our study of 1John by examining the circumstances the apostle John was addressing by his first letter—circumstances very similar to ones we all of us have faced, are facing, or will face.
