Psalm 107:17-22, Cause for Sacrifices and Songs

The third redemption-story that Psalm 107 tells has to do with the another common human condition—that we make a series of sinful, foolish, decisions, giving in to temptations and desires, and landing ourselves in a place of dependence on something that is afflicting us, and will kill us. We call this addiction, and it can be the most helpless and hopeless condition.

That’s where many of us have been, or are, but that’s not where we had to, or have to, remain. Why?

That’s the story of Christmas, isn’t it?
